These twin publications challenge “the perfect mother“ norm in Chinese social media throuth controversial perspectives.

How to Become a Perfect Mom collects, archives, and arranges advertisements for maternal and infant products on the online shopping website Taobao. It interrogated and hybridised in the form of a manual to challenge single female representation and the pressure of intensive parenting in a satirical way.

Or Not to Become presents in-depth conversations with 5 young Chinese mothers. It also edits, curates, and facilitates (work by other artists/mothers) about their "failed" experiences of transitioning from womanhood to motherhood.
